It’s that time of year when our hard work pays off as we compete in several quiz bowl tournaments and meets. This Friday is the Winter Pep Rally at the high school to recognize our group along with other high school athletic and academic groups. Here is our schedule of meets so far: Saturday, February 2- Van Wert Invitational @ Van Wert (Bus leaves at 7:15.) Monday, February 4- Ada Invitational @ Ada (Bus leaves at 3:30.) Thursday, February 21- Hardin County Meet @ USV (Bus leaves at 3:30.) Monday, February 25- Bath Invitational @ Bath (Bus leaves at 3:15.) Wednesday, February 27- Wright State Scholastic Bowl @ Lake Campus (Bus leaves at 8:30.) Thursday, March 7- Hardin County Invitational @ Ada (Bus leaves at 3:30.) The WBL Match has yet to be scheduled due to OSU’s Spring Break being the same week as OGT testing. (Tentative during the week of March 11-15.) Please post these dates on your calendars! Hello! I hope you all had a great summer and are ready to put on your thinking caps to gear up for a new quiz bowl season! We will be getting a new co-advisor this year. I’m not sure if we will be asked to dip ice cream or not, but I know that you will be there if we are needed. You are a great team to work with! Practices will start sometime after the Hardin County Fair and will be posted on the KHS announcements. Once we have a team roster, I can make us our own email group using our new KCS gmail. Between this blog, announcements, and gmail, we should be able to communicate well, which is good because I’m still not certain of how the KCS changes will affect this season so communication will be very important. You are a great group of students and I foresee more opportunities for us to show our knowledge and teamwork! I can’t wait for practices to start! See you soon! It’s finally going to happen this year. We will meet at Pizza Hut at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 28. We’ll eat first and then present awards and certificates. Please bring your family members to celebrate with us. I’ll try to send out e-mail, but it’s not working this weekend. I did post to the KHS announcements. Please let other members know in case they don’t check the announcements or this web site. Hope to see everyone there! Many of you have e-mailed me about not being able to log into the survey. At this point we are looking at an evening event. PLEASE click on the comment link and answer these two questions: 1) What spring sports or events are you involved in? (We’ll try to schedule a night the most people can come.) 2) What restaurant would you and your family like to eat at? (Brunson’s, Henry’s, Pizza Hut, and Jolene’s have a separate place/ room for us to eat and give out awards in.) I haven’t received any certificates yet from the county office. Therefore, once we pick a date, I’ll invite Mrs. Jackson to join us and bring them to the banquet. Mr. Rufner and I have invited her before. Please let your other team members know to comment. Thanks! Here is the photo of Brady receiving his WBL award. We have had our own awards night/ afternoon the last 3 or 4 years. Each time we don’t get as many of you or your family members as we would like to be there. Please ask your family members what they think, too. Please fill out the survey by April 1. Thanks! The KHS Quiz Bowl Team finished their season on Thursday and Friday last week with the Hardin County Invitational and the WBL tournament respectively. On Thursday night, scorers for Kenton were Andy Horner, Brady Hood, Daniel Meeks, Jared Headings, and Jim Warner. Support for the team came from Heather Cavinder, Morgan Long, and Chris Leathem. On Friday at Rhodes State/ Lima OSU, we had a Varsity and a JV team. Brady Hood scored highest in the most rounds to earn the WBL player award for the Kenton Varsity Team.
